Description
Quinta do Monte Travesso is a Douro estate located in Tabuaço, in the Cima-Corgo sub-region. The vineyards stretch across a valley over 16 hectares. The soils are poor and schistose, and the noblest red grape varieties such as Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Sousão predominate. In the whites we find Cerceal, Fernão Pires, Malvasia Fina, Gouveio and Rabigato. In order to preserve the oldest vines, some plots have been kept with tight-compact plantings, where all the work is done by hand. On the other hand, in the new plantings on terraces and vineyards at the top, wide calipers have been used that allow for mechanization. In the new vineyards, in addition to a careful choice of material, special attention has been paid to the management of the vines and their baling.
