Bernardo Nápoles

A man deeply connected to the Douro Region, the land of his birth. His grandfather on his mother’s side, Bernardo Albuquerque, produced around 600 barrels of Port Wine in Touça, in Upper Douro. His grandparents on his father’s side were the proprietors of Quinta do Monte Travesso. In 1999, Bernardo Nápoles takes charge of the Quinta’s production.

 The call of the vineyards and the wine was felt very early in his life, and at a very young age he went to the Escola Profissional Agrícola Conde S. Bento boarding-school in Santo Tirso, were he obtained a diploma as Technician in Farming and Cattle Raising. Afterwards he graduated with a degree in Agricultural Engineering at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). Currently, along with a continuous training in France, he solidifies his knowledge with a Master’s Degree in Viticulture and Oenology at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia.

 Despite his birthplace, his passion for the sea awarded him with the titles of National Sailing Champion and Vice-champion in European Sailing. He is now concentrating all his energy in the vineyards and in the winemaking process and is striving to attain, with his wine, similar joys!
